ExxonMobil Guyana announced the start of drone surveillance along the Gas-to-Energy (GTE) pipeline right-of-way (RoW), which runs from Nouvelle Flanders on the West Coast Demerara to Reynstein on the West Bank Demerara.
On Tuesday, the company announced on Facebook that the initiative aims to prevent unauthorized building, burning, or occupation along the pipeline route.
The surveillance is being conducted by Guydrones, a local company contracted by ExxonMobil Guyana to carry out aerial monitoring.

ExxonMobil Guyana assured that no images or data from private homes or properties will be captured. “All footage will be securely transferred to the company, stored appropriately, and deleted according to strict information management protocols,” the company said.
Residents may notice drone pilots operating in marked vehicles along the route. The operations will use the DJI Matrice350 RTK drone model.
The pipeline was mechanically completed last year.
