ExxonMobil Guyana is working to improve procurement processes to ensure broader access and deeper engagement with local suppliers, Socioeconomic Manager Lorna Carlson said Friday at the 2025 Guyana Supplier Forum.

“As the operator, ExxonMobil Guyana Limited is committed to deepening our engagement with local suppliers, improving access to procurement opportunities and supporting the development of a world-class supply chain,” Carlson stated.

She said supplier input is shaping the company’s approach, including events like the forum, process simplification, and continued investment in training, safety, and quality.

Carlson noted that while progress has been made, improvements to procurement systems are necessary to sustain growth. “We always know there’s more to do,” she said. And the Supplier Forum, she explained, is designed to address these gaps. “Today’s forum is an opportunity to strengthen those connections,” Carlson said. “You’ll hear directly from our procurement teams and prime contractors about opportunities, expectations and how to position yourself for success.”

Carlson said collaboration is key to building a more accessible and effective procurement structure. “We believe that by working together in new and innovative ways, we can create lasting value, especially for the people of Guyana.”

She also highlighted the Social Performance Network, a collaboration between ExxonMobil and 11 of its prime contractors, as one of the mechanisms used to identify and share procurement opportunities with local businesses. Carlson further recognized the Center for Local Business Development for its role in preparing local suppliers to meet industry standards.
