The first phase of the state-of-the-art facility was commissioned on February 9, 2024 – an initiative piloted by SBM Offshore Guyana, with Stabroek block operator ExxonMobil, its co-venturers Hess and CNOOC, and the government of Guyana.

Since 2019, LearnCorp has been delivering technician training programs to support the nationalization of Guyana’s offshore workforce. The company said it was also entrusted with overseeing the full industrial training buildout of the campus.

“From advanced mechanical workshops and electrical labs to instrumentation systems and process training infrastructure, every component was selected, shipped, installed, and commissioned through a collaborative effort between our Canadian and Guyanese teams,” the company stated.
In addition to the technician training program, LearnCorp is actively involved in multiple initiatives under the Greater Guyana Initiative (GGI), including the development of enhanced welding and electrical programs through partnerships with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Ministry of Education. The company also launched a new campaign called Step Change in Safety, aimed at fostering a stronger safety culture across the country’s 11 public TVET institutes.
