The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) announced in a Jan. 18 release that Mark Loquan will not be renewing his contract with the company. His term as Director on the NGC Board and its affiliates will conclude on August 31, 2024. This marks the end of Loquan’s eight-year tenure as President of NGC, a role he assumed in 2016.

Loquan’s career in the petrochemical industry spans over 40 years, beginning as a process engineer at Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited, NGC said. He subsequently held various leadership positions and joined Hydro Agri Trinidad (now Yara Trinidad Limited) in 2002, where he worked in senior executive roles in Trinidad and Tobago, Sub-Saharan Africa, Australia, and Europe.

“As President of NGC, Mark Loquan joined at a time when the global energy industry was experiencing significant disruption and transformation; in addition, the focus on a low-carbon future was building in prominence,” NGC said.

Under Loquan’s leadership, NGC has expanded beyond natural gas, to clean energy.

Dr. Joseph Ishmael Khan, Chairman of NGC, said “Mark has played an indelible role in the sustained growth and development of NGC. His global mindset, strategic thinking, and commitment to national development have been crucial in ensuring NGC’s focus on delivering sustainable value for Trinidad and Tobago, within the context of an often-disruptive global energy industry.”

As NGC commences its executive search for a successor, Loquan will continue to work with the Board and leadership team to implement NGC’s strategic plan, including ensuring a smooth transition once a new President is appointed.
