Eight Guyanese nationals have completed the first phase of MODEC Guyana’s 20-month Onshore Trainee Program and are set to begin Phase Two in Singapore, according to a company press release.

The release stated that the program began in February 2025, with the initial five-month phase concluding on July 8 at a recognition ceremony held at MODEC’s Corporate Office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

During the ceremony, the trainees reflected on their experiences through presentations that included insights from onshore and offshore assignments, technical workshops, and soft skills training. They also delivered a comprehensive strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of their time in Brazil.

MODEC said the program’s first phase offered continuous learning and professional development opportunities, as well as offshore experience aboard Brazilian units.

The company confirmed that Phase Two began on July 28 and will take place in Singapore.

MODEC Guyana’s Country Manager, Rafael Fumis was quoted in the release as saying the Brazil phase gave trainees “valuable experience and insight into the offshore operations of FPSOs”.

“In this next phase, we will focus on preparing for operations,” he said, noting that trainees will become familiar with the FPSO Errea Wittu, its systems, and operational requirements to support the offshore team from first oil.

“Seeing the results unfold, observing the growth and development of our trainees, and knowing that we contributed to the development of future leaders is a truly rewarding experience,” she said.
