Saipem has announced the completion of its contracted scope of work for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Yellowtail field in the Stabroek Block, located in water depths of about 1,800 metres.
The contract, awarded in 2022, covered the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation of the Subsea Umbilical, Riser, and Flowline system. Saipem, in a release today, said the FDS2 J-lay vessel installed the rigid flowline and steel lazy wave risers during an early 2024 campaign.

The final offshore phase concluded in 2025 with the Saipem Constellation installing flexible risers and umbilicals, as well as connecting the pre-laid rigid riser to the newly installed ONE GUYANA floating production storage and offloading vessel.
The company added that the Normand Samson, a chartered Multi-Support Vessel, supported the offshore campaign from mid-2024, executing subsea pre-commissioning, surveys, light construction, and the installation of flowline jumpers manufactured at Saipem’s Georgetown yard.
“All offshore and onshore activities adhered to the highest standards of safety and quality and were completed on schedule,” Saipem stated. The company said its work helped bring forward production at Yellowtail by nearly four months.

Saipem highlighted that this latest completion builds on its track record with previous Guyana projects, including Liza Phase 1 and 2, Payara, and Uaru. The Uaru offshore phase commenced in March 2025.
The company added, “This project further consolidates Saipem’s strategic position and execution capabilities in large-scale deepwater developments.” Saipem said it remains focused on advancing local content, integrating sustainability into its operations, and fostering economic growth through skill development in Guyana.
