Saipem Guyana’s operations are powered largely by Guyanese talent, according to Country Manager Gianluigi Della Rosa. In a LinkedIn post on October 8, Della Rosa said that of the 220 people employed at the company’s Vreed-en-Hoop shore base in Region Three, 80% are Guyanese.
These employees, he noted, are involved in steel fabrication, logistics — including storage and load-in/load-out activities — and asset management using heavy-duty machinery. The site recently completed assembly of a large subsea structure known as a Pipeline End Termination (PLET).

Della Rosa highlighted that Saipem has established two yards in Guyana, employing more than 300 people overall, as part of a deliberate strategy “to go even beyond the local content paradigm”. He explained that from the start, Saipem’s approach has been to operate and be perceived as an entity fully integrated into Guyana’s industrial sector, contributing to its development as a catalyst.
He added that the company remains focused on “raising the bar through continuous improvement, fertilization and dynamic learning, in a safe and sustainable way”.
