Tenaris has started operations at a new service center in Paramaribo, Suriname, to support TotalEnergies’ GranMorgu offshore oil project.

The company announced on June 30 that the facility will provide integrated services for offshore operations. It will support Tenaris’ supply of casing, tubing, and related services for the TotalEnergies-operated project.

GranMorgu is Suriname’s first offshore oil development. It is located in Block 58, about 150 kilometers off the coast of Suriname, and will develop the Sapakara and Krabdagu discoveries. TotalEnergies operates the project with APA Corporation and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. as partners. First oil is targeted in 2028.

Tenaris said the Paramaribo service center was developed to meet TotalEnergies’ operational requirements as GranMorgu moves into execution. It operates under the company’s Rig Direct service model, which is designed to improve supply chain coordination, operational efficiency, and material availability for offshore installation.

“As Suriname enters a new phase in the development of its energy sector, we are proud to support TotalEnergies in the development of the GranMorgu project with our unique experience in serving complex offshore operations,” Duilio Pesce, President of Tenaris for the Andean and Caribbean regions, said.

“The GranMorgu project requires advanced product and service solutions and the highest standards of safety. In this context, our global experience becomes a local strength. Our investment in this service center reflects our confidence in Suriname, its institutions, and its local talent,” Pesce added.

Javier Rielo, Senior Vice President Americas, Exploration and Production at TotalEnergies, said GranMorgu is advancing as Suriname prepares for drilling activity.

“The start of operations at Tenaris’s service center marks a key step in the project’s transition into execution, with the progressive mobilization of the drilling equipment in the country,” Rielo said, adding that beyond its technical dimension, GranMorgu represents a long-term industrial opportunity for Suriname.

The facility spans 74,500 square meters and has capacity for 15,000 tons. It includes a logistics yard and an inspection line where pipes are prepared and verified before being sent offshore.

Tenaris said the process is intended to ensure pipes arrive at the well ready to be run, improving safety and efficiency during offshore operations. The center also uses PipeTracer, a pipe-by-pipe identification and traceability system, and the Rig Direct Portal, a digital platform used to manage orders, track shipments and rig returns, and handle documentation with real-time visibility.
