Dutch floater specialist SBM Offshore, operator of the Liza Destiny FPSO in Guyana, has received the ‘Best Oil Platform Operations’ award from Brazil’s state oil company, Petrobras.

The accolade was given as part of Petrobras’ 2019 best suppliers awards exercise, SBM Offshore said in a social media post on Friday.

“As a forward-looking operator, SBM Offshore combines first-class experience with digital and technological solutions to deliver the highest standards of safety, reliability and efficiency offshore,” the company said.

Over the last year, SBM Offshore said its ‘Smart Operations’ program has accelerated the deployment of industry-leading digital and technological initiatives to ensure safe and sustainable offshore operations.

“Many thanks to our Client for this prestigious award and to all SBMers onshore and offshore who made this possible through their hard work and commitment,” said Maurizio Serusi, the company’s Operations Director in Brazil.

In addition to operating the Liza Destiny FPSO, SBM Offshore is currently building two additional floaters for operations in Guyana, at the Liza Phase 2 and Payara Developments, targeting start-up in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

SBM Offshore plans to put more Guyanese on FPSOs and in shorebase offices

In December, SBM Offshore marked the first anniversary of producing oil in Guyana.
