The International Energy Conference and Expo was launched on Tuesday in Georgetown, Guyana, slated to be held on February 15-18, 2022, under the theme ‘Charting a sustainable energy future’.
The Conference’s Chief Executive Officer, Angenie Abel said presentations will seek to map out Guyana’s energy landscape and will include “several development opportunities” to lend to Guyana’s sustainable development.
“Guyana’s sustainable energy future is dependent on how we explore infrastructure development, skills development, renewable sources of energy and natural gas opportunities,” Abel said. “These are some of the specific topics that our agenda will include.”
Abel also said there will be workshops running parallel to the conference on energy reporting for journalists, procurement practices, and career opportunities in oil and gas for young people. She said the organizers intend for the conference to cater not only to companies and their business but to capacity building for Guyana’s people.
Public Relations Advisor, Alex Graham said the event, which will be held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, will bring together industry players as well as national and regional policymakers.
“Suriname is a key strategic partner for Guyana,” Graham said. “Both countries are cognizant of the many opportunities that arise through cooperation in energy. Currently, discussions between these two countries are centered around joint initiatives that would enhance the benefits of energy cooperation not just for our countries but for the region as a whole.”
Organizers said the conference is also expected to include a trade show element, attracting local, regional, and international exhibitors, and tours to Guyana’s national attractions on the final day.
The International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana 2022 is one of several conferences scheduled to be hosted in Guyana, with key focuses on oil and gas, and sustainable energy.
