GO-NDE Inc. – a partnership between Trinidad’s Non-Destructive Testers Limited (NDT) and Guyana Oil and Gas Support Services Inc. (GOGSSI) has become the first Guyanese oil service company to be ISO 29001:2020 certified.

ISO 29001 is an international standard that sets quality requirements for the oil design production, installation, and service of products for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. The ISO/TS 29001 standard is an extension of the internationally recognized ISO 9001 quality management systems standard. It includes additional requirements with an emphasis on defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste from service providers.

“We wanted to show that we could credibly deliver and meet international standards on quality assurance and that was the goal, going after the ISO 29001:2020 certification,” said Director Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer.

With the certification in hand, Boyer explained that GO-NDE is targeting Guyana’s next rope access training facility.

“Our intention is to continue to grow the local workforce because of the lack of experience in this portion of the industry,” he added.

That facility should be up and running within a year. In the interim, GO-NDE has been training its rope access technicians in Trinidad at NDT’s facility. Those technicians are at Level 1 – the first in a three-tier structure.

It would be the third in Guyana. Qualco Guyana Inc. operates the first while 3t EnerMech’s OPITO Centre of Excellence has the other.
