Come 2024, Guyana’s daily production is set to ramp up to 600,000 barrels of oil per day. This was recently confirmed by ExxonMobil Guyana’s Production Manager, Mike Ryan.

On the latest episode of Access ExxonMobil Guyana, Ryan shared that this will be possible with the Prosperity floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) coming online.

“We are currently producing around 400,000 barrels a day…from the [Liza] Destiny and [Liza] Unity. We are anticipating the startup of Prosperity this year…Once we have achieved that critical milestone of background flare…you can expect closer up in the 600,000 range in 2024,” he said.

Prosperity, for the Payara development is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of this year, adding an additional 220,000 barrels.

The Liza Destiny and Liza Unity FPSOs have been producing around a combined 370,000 barrels per day. In May, production was at 374,450 barrels per day (11.6 million barrels of crude) dubbed the highest ever recorded.

That 600,000-bpd figure is expected to be even higher when the Liza Unity FPSO is debottlenecked.

It will undergo optimisation activities sometime in the second half of the year, with a view of safely lifting production to 250,000 bpd. The project would be on par with the larger Yellowtail and Uaru projects, expected in 2025 and 2026.

The Destiny, Unity and Prosperity FPSOs are built, maintained and operated by Dutch floater specialist, SBM Offshore.

The Stabroek Block is operated by ExxonMobil, which holds a 45% stake. It is supported by Hess (30%) and CNOOC (25%).
