Offshore installation and construction services provider McDermott has been awarded a significant transportation and installation contract by PRIO (formerly PetroRio) for the Wahoo field, located offshore Brazil.

The undisclosed-value contract entails the transportation and installation of approximately 19 miles (30 kilometres) of coated 10-inch rigid pipelines and associated subsea structures. These pipelines will serve to connect the Wahoo field to the Frade floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. Moreover, the agreement includes an extension option for a second pipeline.

Situated about 19 miles (30 kilometres) north of the already-producing Frade field in Brazil’s Campos basin, the Wahoo field represents a strategic addition to PRIO’s portfolio.

McDermott’s Rio de Janeiro team will oversee project management and engineering, ensuring the seamless execution of the contract. The installation activities will be conducted utilising one of McDermott’s specialised rigid pipelay vessels.

PRIO’s recent milestones include surpassing 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) of production in July, with the successful startup of the ODP5 (“F23P3”) well in the Frade field. Furthermore, PRIO announced a 15% increase in production in the Polvo field following the online activation of the POL-Q well, with an initial stabilised production rate of approximately 1,000 (bpd). This new well operates in the Eoceno reservoir, complementing the ongoing production from the POL-K and POL-L wells.

The POL-Q well was executed with the Polvo-A drilling rig.
