The Family Awareness Consciousness Togetherness (FACT) after-school program for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is expanding its reach in Guyana with continued support from ExxonMobil Guyana, providing hands-on science and engineering education to children in underserved communities.
According to an ExxonMobil Guyana press release issued on June 23, the company has supported the program since 2021, and it now serves over 100 students.
“The FACT after-school STEM program currently serves approximately 140 students between the ages of 7 and 17, providing a safe and supportive space for children from communities with limited access to educational resources,” the company said.
ExxonMobil said the enhancements are intended to equip students with practical STEM skills. The company added that the program builds on the success of earlier ExxonMobil-supported initiatives in Corriverton, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), where it has helped support at-risk students and steer them away from negative social influences.
“In 2026, the program is expanding its focus to place greater emphasis on mathematics, robotics, and information technology, along with the addition of two specialized teachers. Investments are also being made to improve the learning environment, including the establishment of a smart classroom,” ExxonMobil disclosed.
The academic results have also been significant. ExxonMobil said students enrolled in the program recorded a 100% pass rate at the 2025 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
The FACT program forms part of ExxonMobil Guyana’s broader support for STEM education and workforce development, aimed at preparing young Guyanese for future careers in technical and professional fields.
