Global technology company, SLB, has secured a seven-year contract with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) under the state-owned producer’s Ahmadi Innovation Valley initiative.
The agreement will see SLB support the testing and deployment of technologies across KOC operations, including artificial intelligence, industrial internet of things applications, reservoir management tools, production optimization systems, water management solutions, and energy transition projects.
According to Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan, Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Company, the “Ahmadi Innovation Valley represents an important step in advancing technology leadership across Kuwait’s energy sector.” He noted that “through collaboration with leading technology partners, we are accelerating technology deployment, strengthening local capabilities and expanding knowledge transfer to support Kuwait’s energy industry.”

The announcement was made on June 30. Under the contract, SLB will contribute to applied research and technology evaluation across multiple operational areas, covering nearly 100 projects.
The company also plans to establish a dedicated facility in Kuwait for the initiative, with construction expected to begin in 2026 and operations targeted for 2028.
SLB Chief Executive Officer Olivier Le Peuch said the value of the initiative lies in scaling innovation into field operations.
“The energy industry has no shortage of technology. The challenge is deploying it at scale and turning innovation into operational impact… Ahmadi Innovation Valley brings together technology providers, researchers and operational teams to accelerate the evaluation, deployment and scaling of new solutions across KOC’s operations,” he said.
The award builds on more than eight decades of cooperation between SLB and KOC in upstream services and technology development.

The company also handles storage and delivery of crude oil for export, supported by ongoing investment in technology and field development to sustain long-term production.
