Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources Raphael Trotman has committed to supporting and working alongside the newly-appointed Head of the Department of Energy, Dr. Mark Bynoe in developing and administering the South-American nation’s oil and gas industry.

Responsibility for Petroleum was recently transferred from Mr. Trotman’s Ministry to the Department of Energy which falls under the auspices of the Ministry of the Presidency.

Speaking to OilNOW on the sidelines of a forum at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, Georgetown, on Friday, August 3, 2018, Mr. Trotman said, “My office is at the complete disposal of Dr. Bynoe and we are anxiously looking forward to working with him.”

He went on to say that he is “quite excited, quite happy at Dr Bynoe’s appointment,” adding, “We have met on several occasions and it lasted for several hours where we just exchanged ideas and views. We are quite impressed with him, his thinking, his personality and I believe that he will do well in the Department.”

Dr. Bynoe has also gained the support of former Natural Resources Minister Robert Persaud who described him as “a consummate professional with a deep sense of commitment to country and the tasks before him.”
