Noble Corp. has signed a new contract for its Noble Regina Allen jackup rig with an undisclosed operator offshore Suriname. The drilling contractor announced the deal on March 5 via LinkedIn.
The contract covers one well with an estimated duration of 65 days, scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. The total contract value is approximately $17.7 million, including mobilization and demobilization fees.
The Noble Regina Allen was previously removed from operations following a mechanical failure in its jacking system in 2022. The rig was demobilized to a port in Trinidad, leading to the termination of its multi-well contract. It has since undergone repairs in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Suriname’s offshore drilling activity is set to increase, with Rystad Energy forecasting 10 wells for 2025-2026. Staatsolie, the state oil company, expects up to five wells to be drilled in 2025 by TotalEnergies, PETRONAS, Shell, Chevron, and QatarEnergy. These include the Araku Deep-1 well at Block 65, Macaw-1 at Block 64, KoriKori-1 at Block 5, and two wells at Block 52.
The Surinamese government is pushing for increased recoverable resources beyond the 2.2 billion oil-equivalent barrels estimated by Rystad Energy.
