ExxonMobil Guyana Limited will continue deepwater development operations in the Whiptail field of the Stabroek Block, according to a notice issued this week by the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD).
The exercise will begin on December 31, 2025, and will involve the use of the Normand Frontier, which will display the international signal for vessels engaged in subsea activity.

Operations will cover an area of 150.6 nautical miles (195.7 kilometers) offshore Guyana, encompassing approximately 23.8 square nautical miles (88.6 square kilometers).
Coordinates released by MARAD outline six points marking the boundary of the Whiptail activity zone, located within Guyana’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
The Whiptail project, led by ExxonMobil with partners Hess and CNOOC, is one of Guyana’s major offshore oil developments.

Once operational in 2027, the project is expected to add 250,000 barrels of oil per day to Guyana’s output, pushing total offshore production capacity above one million barrels daily.
SBM Offshore is building the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Whiptail, while TechnipFMC is supplying subsea production systems.
