Ramps Logistics says its homegrown platform, MAWI, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Breakbulk Awards — the first time a technology created in the Caribbean has reached this level of recognition.

According to the company’s September 26 release, MAWI has been named a finalist in the category of Best Logistics Strategy for an Energy Project. “For MAWI to now stand alongside these names shows that Caribbean innovation is no longer on the sidelines; it is part of global conversations,” Ramps stated.

Breakbulk, the world’s largest gathering for project cargo and logistics, has historically spotlighted global giants such as ExxonMobil, GE, and Siemens.

Ramps explained that having a Caribbean-developed AI platform considered among them highlights a shift from traditional logistics to technology-driven solutions and signals the region’s growing influence in global supply chains.

Ramps describes MAWI as “the world’s first AI-driven customs brokerage platform,” capable of cutting clearance times from hours to minutes, easing compliance burdens, and keeping cargo flowing. Already used by energy operators in Trinidad and Guyana, the system is helping reduce port congestion, lower emissions, and accelerate the delivery of vital equipment for both oil and renewable projects.

The company added, “This recognition is not simply a nomination. It is proof that AI is unlocking opportunities for the Caribbean to innovate, to expand beyond traditional boundaries, and to redefine how companies are built.”

The Breakbulk awards ceremony takes place on October 2, 2025, in Houston, Texas, during Breakbulk Americas.
