ExxonMobil will host an open house on Saturday, November 22, to update residents on Guyana’s landmark Gas-to-Energy (GtE) project. The event will be held at Westminster Secondary School, West Bank Demerara, from 10 AM to 3 PM.
The company said the session will allow the public to “meet and interact with our Gas-to-Energy (GtE) Pipeline project team,” learn more about “GtE Pipeline Safety” and raise questions or concerns about the development.
The Gas-to-Energy project is one of Guyana’s largest energy investments. It features a 300-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle power plant in Wales, designed to supply about 250 MW of electricity to roughly 220,000 households. Gas will be delivered through a 200-kilometer subsea pipeline from the Liza Phase 1 and Liza Phase 2 floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO), then transported via a 12-inch, 27-kilometer onshore line to a 100-acre Wales site.
There, a natural gas liquids (NGL) plant will strip liquids such as propane and butane, while the remaining dry gas will feed the power plant. In Phase 1, the pipeline will move about 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) with capacity for up to 120 million standard cubic feet per day.
ExxonMobil said the open house is intended to ensure residents have clear information on project activities and safety measures ahead of major operational milestones.
