EOG Resources has received environmental approval to drill two offshore gas wells off the coast of Trinidad.

The Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a Certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC) to EOG Resources for the drilling of the TG-1 and TG-2 gas wells in the NCMA 4(a) Unlimited Block, located off Trinidad’s north coast, according to an article published on Monday by the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago.

The approval marks the first CEC issued under the authority’s newly appointed board of directors overseeing oil and gas matters. EMA chairman Doolar Ramlal said the certificate was granted within the statutory timeframe and reflected the regulator’s approach to decision-making.
