Petrobras recorded its highest quarterly production level in the second quarter of 2026, with average output reaching 3.34 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).
The Brazilian state-controlled oil company reported on July 28 that production of oil, natural gas liquids (NGL) and natural gas increased 14.1% compared with the same period in 2025 and rose 3.4% from the first quarter of 2026.
The increase was driven by production ramp-ups at the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Maria Quitéria in the Jubarte field, the Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO in the Mero field, continued growth from the P-78 platform and the start-up of the P-79 FPSO in the Búzios field.
Petrobras also brought 10 new production wells online during the quarter, including four in the Campos Basin and six in the Santos Basin.

The company reported that “improved operational efficiency added about 70,000 barrels per day (b/d) compared with the second quarter of 2025”, supported by maintenance investments and efforts to improve production system reliability.
The Búzios field reached new production milestones during the quarter. On June 23, platforms operating in the field reached an average output of 1.1 million b/d, then exceeded that level again three days later, reaching 1.2 million b/d.
Búzios recorded its first monthly average above one million b/d in June, reaching the milestone 8.2 years after commercial production began on its permanent production systems.
The P-79 FPSO started production on May 1 in the Santos Basin pre-salt, three months ahead of schedule under Petrobras’ 2026–2030 Business Plan. The platform has capacity to produce 180,000 b/d and compress 7.2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
The start-up increased Búzios’ installed production capacity to approximately 1.33 million b/d. The platform also achieved first gas injection on June 26, 56 days after first oil.

Petrobras’ Almirante Tamandaré FPSO in Búzios reached a record monthly average production of 253,000 b/d in June, making it the highest-producing platform in Brazil.
The Mero field averaged about 740,000 b/d during the quarter, while other Santos Basin assets, including Tupi, Sépia, Atapu, Itapu, Sapinhoá and Berbigão, maintained production above 1.5 million b/d combined.
Production from the Campos Basin averaged 559,000 b/d, marking its second-highest output since the fourth quarter of 2023.
Petrobras also reported records across its broader operations, including total operated production of 4.87 million boe/d and total operated pre-salt production of 4.24 million boe/d during the quarter.
