The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago has established a Women in Energy Task Force aimed at supporting the participation and career development of women across the country’s energy industry.
The task force held its inaugural meeting on August 5, bringing together female professionals from Energy Chamber member companies representing different segments of the energy value chain.
It is co-chaired by Denise Chinpire O’Reilly, Managing Director of KS Chinpire Contracting Services Limited, and Giselle Thompson, Deputy Managing Director of Proman.

The Energy Chamber said the group will focus on mentorship, career development and sponsorship for young women, along with community initiatives and strategic partnerships.
The task force is also expected to explore ways to help girls and young women prepare for opportunities in the energy industry.
“This Task Force represents a deliberate and important step for our industry,” Energy Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Priya Marajh said.
“Women have long contributed to the strength of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector, and it is time we build the structures, mentorship, sponsorship, and partnership, that allow that contribution to grow,” she added.

According to the Chamber, the initiative is intended to create a network through which women working across the energy sector can collaborate and support professional advancement.
The group will also pursue partnerships and initiatives aligned with the Energy Chamber’s wider advocacy priorities.
Trinidad and Tobago has one of the Caribbean’s most developed energy industries, spanning upstream oil and gas production, petrochemicals, liquefied natural gas, power generation and a broad energy services sector.
