The Noble Don Taylor is continuing exploration drilling operations at Barreleye-1 situated approximately 90.87 nautical miles (167.98 kilometers) offshore Guyana at the ExxonMobil-operated Stabroek Block, covering an area of 0.29 square nautical miles.
Meanwhile, the Stena Carron will be engaged in drilling activities at the Tilapia well site situated approximately 109.6 nautical miles (203.0 kilometers) offshore, covering an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer).
Tilapia-1, ranked by Rystad Energy as one of the top three discoveries for 2019, had encountered approximately 305 feet (93 meters) of high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoir and was drilled to a depth of 18,786 feet (5,726 meters) in 5,850 feet (1,783 meters) of water.
Just last week Exxon announced two new oil discoveries at Fangtooth-1 and Lau Lau-1 in the Stabroek Block.
Analysts have said giant prospects in Guyana will be at the forefront of exploration this year.
The South American country’s biggest project to date and one of the largest subsea developments this century is pending government approvals. Yellowtail will deliver a whopping 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) at the Exxon-operated Stabroek Block by 2025, pushing Guyana’s total output well over 800,000 bpd.
Since 2015, Exxon has made well over 20 commercial discoveries at Stabroek Block amounting to more than 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources, placing Guyana at number 17 on a list of 20 countries for the highest oil reserves in the world.
