Excitement is at an all-time high in Suriname, all because of its first offshore development, GranMorgu. And this could just be the start. An exploration campaign is being executed over several blocks to unlock more resources and add to Suriname’s offshore oil story. And it is one that Staatsolie is committed to executing to ensure the benefits are felt across the entire country.
“Staatsolie is deeply dedicated to unlocking Suriname’s offshore oil and gas potential, together with our international partners. Our commitment is not only to harness these valuable resources but also to ensure that their development significantly benefits the Surinamese people,” Jagesar underscored.
Staatsolie’s ongoing efforts to secure offshore blocks are part of a strategy to maximize international partnerships and enhance understanding of Suriname’s offshore geology.

With participation interests in other blocks, Staatsolie is working to position itself as the “Master of the Basin” by converting geological data into valuable insights, which can lead to future hydrocarbon discoveries.
The company’s goal of having as much of the offshore area under contract with international entities is seen as vital for Suriname’s long-term energy prospects.
