Business Ministry to take lead on development of local content policy framework

Guyana’s Ministry of Business has been tasked with spearheading the development of the country’s local content policy framework, now slated to be finalized and completed by the end of April.

This was disclosed by the South American country’s Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, who on Wednesday confirmed too that his ministry is in receipt of the final draft policy, prepared by consultant, Anthony Paul.

Speaking on the sidelines of the country’s review of its National Oil Spill Contingency Plan, Mr. Trotman told reporters, “the responsibility for local content development; I have asked Minister (of Business Dominic) Gaskin and his ministry to take charge of that.”

Disclosing that the Ministry is in receipt of the final draft from Mr. Paul, the Natural Resources Minister told reporters “Mr. Paul who is back on the African continent has sent a final draft only a few days ago this week…so we are going to be working on that, my intention is to have it finalized by the end of April.”
