The Centre for Local Business Development (CLBD) is offering businesses and individuals entry into Guyana’s oil and gas sector through strategic courses designed to build industry knowledge and strengthen procurement capabilities.

CLBD is a Guyana-based organization that provides training, mentoring, and business support services to strengthen local participation in the energy sector. Its programs include oil and gas fundamentals, HSSE (health, safety, security and environment), project management, financial management, supply chain management, and business development.

According to program information published by CLBD’s website, one of the core offerings is the “Introduction to Oil and Gas & Gas to Energy” course.

This module is designed to provide participants with updated context on Guyana’s petroleum industry and the Gas-to-Energy project, which is slated to transport associated natural gas from ExxonMobil’s offshore Stabroek Block operations to Wales, West Bank Demerara.

“On completion of this course, participants will have an understanding of the oil and gas supply chain, how they operate and the latest developments in Guyana’s oil and gas sector,” the program outline stated.

The CLBD also offers an “Introduction to O&G Procurement” course, which focuses on how procurement functions within the oil and gas industry and what is required to access contract opportunities.

The procurement training is structured into three modules. Module one covers Request for Information (RFI) and Expression of Interest (EOI) processes. Module two focuses on Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) systems. Module three examines bid evaluation procedures.
