SBM Offshore has received the 2023 Ruby awards for supplier excellence from U.S. oil major, ExxonMobil, for delivering best-in-class operations of floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels for Guyana.

SBM Offshore was contracted by ExxonMobil to deliver and operate five floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels to Guyana – Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, Prosperity, ONE GUYANA, and Jaguar. They will facilitate 1.14 million barrels per day (b/d) of oil production offshore the South American country.

“ExxonMobil has recognized SBM Offshore for delivering outstanding performance across all facets of the operation keeping people safe, protecting the environment, and maintaining industry-leading production reliability,” SBM Offshore said in a release.

Additionally, SBM Offshore was recognized for its commitment to supporting the Guyanese people by expanding its local workforce and supporting an in-country training center. The first aspect of that facility was commissioned last week, a US$13 million facility simulator, called FacTor.

SBM Offshore said it has also collaborated with ExxonMobil Guyana on an integrated operations model, an innovative organizational structure with common work processes, in a mission to accelerate the organization’s ability to work better together as an integrated operations team and support the achievement of both companies’ objectives.

ExxonMobil’s Supplier Excellence program consists of three major awards, the Supplier of the Year award, the Supplier Innovation award and the Diverse Supplier award. Additionally, several suppliers, including SBM Offshore, are receiving Ruby awards for support to a specific category or commodity or to specific ExxonMobil affiliates.

Alex Glenn, Managing Director of SBM Offshore’s Operations, said, “We are extremely honored to have been selected as a Ruby award recipient. This could only be achieved with an unprecedented level of openness, trust and collaboration between our companies. On behalf of the team, thank you very much – we look forward to continuing our collaboration for optimal operations in Guyana.”
