ExxonMobil is seeking Guyanese undergraduate students in their third and fourth years of study to join a three-month internship program aimed at building local skills.
The program, which runs from June to August, is open to Guyanese citizens pursuing degrees across a wide range of disciplines, including petroleum engineering, geoscience, environmental sciences, finance, business management, social sciences, information technology, procurement and supply chain management, the company said in a vacancy notice.
Exxon said interns will be placed across several business areas, including Upstream, Wells, Projects, Production, Geoscience, Information Technology, Finance, Public and Government Affairs, Supply Chain and Procurement.

The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a real business environment and to fulfil university work-attachment requirements, Exxon said. Interns will receive on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching from experienced supervisors, and will be assessed through project delivery and a final presentation or report.
“An internship with us can also kickstart your career,” the company said, adding that outstanding performers may be considered for full-time employment after graduation, with preference given to former ExxonMobil interns.
Exxon leads a consortium with Hess, now owned by Chevron, and China’s CNOOC that produces crude oil offshore Guyana. Oil production has driven rapid economic growth in the country, increasing demand for skilled local labour and training opportunities.
Applicants must be able to commit to the full three-month programme and demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, Exxon said.
