Construction of the Guyana Technical Training College (GTTC) at Port Mourant, Berbice has been completed and the facility is ready to receive its first full cohort of students in January, President Irfaan Ali revealed this week on Facebook.
The campus includes a Facility Simulator, known as FacTor, along with practical workshops, lecture rooms and administrative offices. The government says the new institution is intended to supply industry-ready skills as Guyana’s oil and gas sector expands.
Before construction finished, the College had an 18-month advanced oil and gas diploma launched in October. Training spans classrooms, laboratories, workshops and the simulator.
FacTor, established in 2024 is an initiative larged led by SBM Offshore, with support from the Stabroek Block partners ExxonMobil, Hess, CNOOC, and the Guyana government. It replicates the environment of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel to familiarize students with offshore operations.
Ali said the College “is designed to deliver hands-on, industry-relevant training that will equip students with essential technical skills, strengthening Guyana’s workforce and supporting the country’s rapidly expanding oil and gas sector.
