A former ExxonMobil official, Jesus Bronchalo, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fulcrum LNG—a U.S. firm Guyana identified to partner with the government and ExxonMobil on a major natural gas development.
Bronchalo announced his association with Fulcrum, in a June 22 LinkedIn post.
“A key element of our infrastructure solution is a gas processing unit and a modular, scalable facility to produce the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and NGLs/LPGs for Guyana as well as regional and global markets,” the energy executive said.
Bronchalo spent nearly two decades working for ExxonMobil, including in critical leadership roles overseeing gas projects. He spent just over two years as ExxonMobil Guyana’s Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (2020-2023), during which he served as an industry representative on the Guyana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG).
The company’s proposal beat out 16 others submitted in February, in response to a call for a partner to design, finance, construct and operate essential gas infrastructure for the country.
Bronchalo said Fulcrum has partnered with some of the industry’s leading global firms to deploy the most advanced technologies and sustainable solutions.
The government has been pushing ExxonMobil to place gas development on its front burner. With six oil developments approved, Guyana sees gas as the new frontier for its evolving economic story. “What we want is monetization of the gas as fast as possible, to add an additional revenue stream,” President Irfaan Ali said at a June 22 press conference in Georgetown.
Ali said that Exxon, Fulcrum, and a Guyana government technical team are expected to deliberate on the potential project, with hopes for an agreement to be signed in 2025.
