LNDCH4 Guyana, the joint venture between CH4 and Lindsayca, has kickstarted a hiring drive in Guyana as it gears up for the construction of an integrated facility as part of Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project. This facility, a cornerstone of Guyana’s energy strategy, will comprise a 300-megawatt (MW) power plant and a natural gas liquids plant. LNDCH4 was awarded the contract by the Guyana government under a US$759 million deal and is expected to start work in the second quarter of 2024.
In a press release, LNDCH4 announced the successful hiring of over 10 Guyanese contractors and employees and is in the process of interviewing more candidates for upcoming roles. LNDCH4 aims to hire 100 more employees in 2024, seeking professionals and contractors who share the company’s vision for a sustainable and economically vibrant future, it said.
Shameeza Alfred, a Guyanese team member at LNDCH4, is employed as an environmental supervisor. She said the project aligns with her personal and professional aspirations. “Being involved in a project like this one, which will impact the country in the most beneficial way has been exciting. Not only does it allow me to learn but also be listened to,” Alfred stated in the release.
Humberto Lopez, General Manager of LNDCH4, said, “We are thrilled to have welcomed a diverse range of talented individuals into the LNDCH4 family. We are tapping into the wealth of expertise within our community and creating lasting partnerships that will benefit both the company and the country.”
In tandem with LNDCH4’s efforts, Kalpataru Projects International Limited, an Indian firm, has been awarded a contract of approximately US$159 million to establish transmission lines and substations. The preparation for this Gas-to-Energy project has seen notable progress, with ExxonMobil’s contractors actively involved in laying pipelines both onshore and offshore.
