Hess said its net production in Guyana is expected to drop between the 170,000 to 175,000 barrels per day (b/d) range, its Q2 earnings report said. Hess has a 30% stake in the Stabroek Block, where Exxon produces oil from three floating production vessels.

Hess said the forecasted decrease from 192,000 b/d in the second quarter “reflects the downtime associated with the Liza Destiny and the Liza Unity floating production, storage and offloading vessels.”  Both will be taken offline to facilitate the Gas-to-Energy project pipeline hookup in July and August

The Liza Unity was already taken offline in the first two weeks of July. ExxonMobil Guyana President, Alistair Routledge said that production would not be lost, just deferred.

Exxon is responsible for building a pipeline to bring the gas from the Liza field in the Stabroek Block to onshore facilities. Installation of the onshore component is 70% complete, Routledge said. The company expects to conclude by 2024, but gas is not expected to be transported until the completion of the onshore component in 2025. The gas will be used for power generation and other forms of commercialization.

Work has commenced on a site, where an integrated gas processing facility will be constructed. The Guyana government contracted a US-based group (CH4-Lindsayca) to build-out the facility at Wales, West Bank Demerara, for US$759 million.
