Guyana’s fourth oil production vessel – ONE GUYANA – is the second to be outfitted with locally fabricated steel, representing yet another win for local content for the country.

ExxonMobil Guyana President Alistair Routledge revealed that 200 tonnes of steel will be fabricated for the FPSO which is currently in dry dock at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.

This is a significant increase from the initial 50 tons of steel fabricated locally for the Prosperity FPSO by two local companies: Industrial Fabrications Incorporated (InFab) and Guyana Oil and Gas Support Services Inc. (GOGSSI).

The number of local fabrication companies has now expanded to three with the addition of ZECO

“So, Prosperity was 50 tons, and now for Yellowtail, it is 200. And this tells a little story of what local content is,” Routledge said at an event on April 20.

A steel strike ceremony was recently held to commemorate the start of construction by SBM Offshore.

The ONE GUYANA vessel is being designed to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day, with an associated gas treatment capacity of 450 million cubic feet per day and water injection capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. The floater will be moored in water depth of about 1,800 metres and will be able to store around two million barrels of crude oil.

‘One Guyana’ will deliver biggest daily production for new oil nation

The project’s turnkey phase is being executed in conjunction with United States engineering and construction company, McDermott, under a special purpose company. In it, SBM Offshore holds 70% and McDermott 30% equity ownership. But the FPSO will be fully owned by SBM Offshore.
