Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, and Permanent Secretary, Joslyn McKenzie, have met with Hart Group and BDO Guyana. Spearheaded by David Quinn of Hart Group and Rakesh Latchana of BDO Guyana, the joint venture has been appointed as the Independent Administrator for the preparation of Guyana’s 2021 EITI Report.

Expected to be released by December 2023, this crucial report will encapsulate the fiscal year of 2021.

The meeting, which laid down the groundwork for the forthcoming report, was also attended Ryan Ramjit, Chair of the GYEITI Multi Stakeholder Group. Core discussions included the detailed workplan implementation and nuances of other EITI policies. The assignment is expected to take six months, after commencement in September 2023. This time frame requires the consultant to remain physically in Guyana.

Earlier this year, the EITI lifted its suspension on Guyana, which had been implemented due to a delay in publishing the 2020 EITI Report. Guyana published its 2020 EITI report on June 30, 2023.
