Glowing remarks were relayed on the years of collaboration between the U.S. and Guyana. “Our military partnership is the strongest it’s ever been,” she said. “Guyana has hosted trade winds, bringing over 1,000 partner nations’ personnel for exercises promoting regional stability.” She also emphasized the depth of their commercial ties, noting that U.S.-Guyana trade surpassed US$4.6 billion last year, with over 100 U.S. companies now operating in Guyana.

Ambassador Theriot acknowledged the efforts of the U.S. Embassy team and their Guyanese partners. She praised initiatives like the USAID programs promoting food security and small business incubation, and the Peace Corps volunteers working in literacy, health, and the environment.

Expressing gratitude to the Guyanese people and leaders, Ambassador Theriot concluded, “It’s been an incredible journey and we’re just getting started. As we celebrate the 248th anniversary of U.S. independence, let’s all think about what else we can do together in the years to come.”
