The Latin America and the Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference (LACPEC) is set to highlight the new exploration frontiers – Guyana and Suriname – showcasing the region’s advancements in the energy industry. The conference, renowned as the premier technical event for Exploration and Production technology in Latin America and the Caribbean, will feature technical papers and panel sessions focusing on “Engineered opportunities: Technologies shaping the energy landscape.”

Guyana’s remarkable success in oil and gas production will be one of the key highlights at LACPEC. The country, situated on the northeast coast of South America, has rapidly emerged as a significant player in the global energy market. With major discoveries in its offshore Stabroek Block, operated by ExxonMobil, Guyana has unlocked vast hydrocarbon reserves – 11 billion recoverable barrels to be exact – transforming the nation’s economic prospects. The conference will shed light on Suriname’s efforts to develop this block and explore the associated challenges and opportunities.
