OMV (Norge) AS has chosen TechnipFMC to undertake a significant integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (iEPCI™) contract for its Berling gas development project. This marks OMV’s first iEPCI™ project in Norway as an operator, and TechnipFMC will be responsible for the design and installation of the subsea production systems, controls, pipelines, and umbilicals on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The award of this contract follows a comprehensive six-month integrated Front End Engineering and Design (iFEED™) study conducted by TechnipFMC. The study focused on optimising the field layout and enhancing the project’s economics. One notable outcome was the confirmation of the suitability of thermally insulated pipe-in-pipe technology for the flowline used in this tieback, resulting in improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, commented: “We’re proud to have OMV join the growing number of clients who are experiencing the benefits of our integrated project execution model. Through iFEED™, we demonstrated that iEPCI™ provides a solution which will accelerate delivery of this development. We are excited to support OMV through its first project as operator in the North Sea.”

OMV (Norge) AS is a subsidiary of OMV Aktiengesellschaft, an integrated, international oil, and gas company headquartered in Vienna, Austria.

TechnipFMC is an international oil service company. Subsea tech is one of its strong focuses. The company also operates in Guyana, and was most recently hired by ExxonMobil for the installation of risers and pipelines for Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project.
