Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has announced the upcoming offshore Brazil bid round dates. As per the proposed schedule, the ANP has set December 13, 2023, for the second round involving pre-salt acreage and the fourth round encompassing both onshore and offshore exploration blocks beyond the pre-salt polygon.

For the second pre-salt round, the regulatory body has confirmed the participation of 13 qualified companies eligible to submit offers for the six available areas. These areas include Agata, Cruzeiro do Sul, Esmeralda, Jade, and Tupinamba in the Campos basin and Turmalina in the Santos basin.

The fourth round has a total of 955 exploration blocks, plus the Japiim marginal accumulation, available for offers.

Over the last 30 years, the vast petroliferous margins of Brazil have consistently provided some of the largest discoveries in the world, according to TGS, a leading seismic data provider.

In a piece on Brazil’s offshore areas, TGS said high-quality seismic data is the pathfinder for exploration and production companies, not only to develop the best resources of the pre-salt play of the Santos and Campos Basins but also to unleash the high potential of the underexplored Aptian rift/syn-rift play and deep water clastic and carbonate plays of the Ceará and Potiguar Basins of the Northern Equatorial Margin.

The company had extensive data profiles on the prospects in this new bid round that can be accessed on their website.
