SBM Offshore has officially welcomed the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré into its fleet. 

This vessel is now the largest floating production storage and offloading unit operating in Brazilian waters, SBM Offshore announced via LinkedIn.

The Almirante Tamandaré is set to become the first high-capacity unit installed in the Búzios Field, located in the pre-salt region of the Santos Basin. 

With a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day and the ability to process 12 million cubic meters of gas daily, the FPSO is poised to enhance Brazil’s energy capabilities, SBM Offshore said.

The unit departed from the CMHI yard in China on July 31 and completed its journey to Brazil on October 25. SBM Offshore expressed pride in the efforts of its teams and partners, who contributed countless hours to deliver this complex and monumental FPSO.

The Almirante Tamandaré will soon commence its 26-year operational partnership with Petrobras.
