Multi-purpose service vessel Siem Dorado is continuing its operations offshore Guyana on a 55-day firm contract with ExxonMobil for fibre optic cable installation, support and hook-up services.
The U.S. oil major is implementing a secure, high-speed fibre-optic/wireless transport service to efficiently manage oil production at the Stabroek block and has been conducting installation activities over the past several weeks.
The Siem Dorado will be operating in an area situated approximately 91 nautical miles (168.5 kilometers) from the coast of Guyana, covering an area of 405.5 square nautical miles (1390.9 square kilometers).
Exxon has said the high-speed fibre-optic project will connect its onshore and offshore facilities to Guyana’s foundation infrastructure, thereby allowing it to improve productivity (field access data and planning), support remote operations, and support reliability (process monitoring and inspection).
