SLB OneSubsea has been selected to provide the subsea production system for 13 wells at Eni’s Baleine Phase 3 deepwater development offshore Côte d’Ivoire.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, announced by SLB on July 13, covers the delivery of subsea equipment and services required to support the development, including subsea trees, umbilicals, manifolds, multiphase flowmeters and control systems.

The scope also includes installation, commissioning and life-of-field support as SLB OneSubsea supports the execution of the project.

“Baleine Phase 3 brings together scale and execution certainty… Through our subsea production system technology and by leveraging our established local presence, we are supporting Eni’s efforts to advance a complex, deepwater project efficiently while contributing to the long-term development of offshore resources in Côte d’Ivoire,” Mads Hjelmeland, Chief Executive Officer of SLB OneSubsea, said.

Eni’s Baleine development began with the 2021 discovery of the Baleine-1X well in Block CI-101, which confirmed light oil and associated gas resources in deepwater acreage. Operated by Eni with Petroci Holding, the project was developed in phases, with first oil achieved in 2023 through the Firenze floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO), and further phases planned to expand production and recovery from the field.

Baleine Phase 3 is expected to advance the field through additional subsea infrastructure and production technology, with SLB OneSubsea supporting the project through subsea production systems.

The company has supported major offshore projects globally, including developments in Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, and other deepwater regions. Its work focuses on improving the efficiency of subsea developments by combining engineering, digital technologies, and production systems that allow operators to access and manage complex offshore reservoirs.
