Impact Fluid Solutions, a provider of advanced oilfield additives designed to tackle complex wellbore issues, said it is availing its products to operators in Guyana.

Impact’s offerings include its FLC® drilling fluid additives and SHIELD BOND® cement spacer system, built on its proprietary Wellbore Shielding® technology that has been successful in preventing wellbore instabilities in challenging formations globally.

Impact will be participating in the International Energy Conference and Expo 2023 event, scheduled for February 14-17. The company plans to showcase its solutions, including a presentation on a global operator’s recent success using Impact’s FLC 2000® wellbore stabiliser in deepwater wells offshore Suriname.

“FLC 2000® has been used to extend the operating window in deepwater drilling operations, avoiding formation damage and lost circulation, which can save operators millions of dollars per well,” Impact said in a release. “Unlike conventional remedies that address wellbore instability after it occurs, Impact’s Wellbore Shielding® solutions provide a proactive approach that protects against fluid and pressure invasion.”

The company says its products also help to minimise the energy sector’s environmental impacts, with low toxicity levels and high biodegradability.

Guyana’s offshore petroleum sector continues to grow, as Exxon stacks development projects to hike Stabroek Block production, and as the Guyana government prepares to auction 14 more blocks.

“We are pleased to be able to launch our technologies into Guyana’s growing oil and gas industry and be a part of its success,” said Rodney Uchytil, President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Impact. “We look forward to leveraging our growth in other Latin American basins to help operators solve wellbore issues and meet their ESG [environmental, social and governance] objectives.”

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Impact has been around for nearly two decades. It says it has a strong track record spanning six continents, with its technology used in more than 10,000 wells.
