Guyana’s offshore basin continues to draw global attention as multiple oil and gas companies advance exploration and appraisal across deepwater and shallow-water acreage. The activity spans proven producing blocks and frontier areas, positioning the country as one of the most closely watched oil-producing regions worldwide.
At the center of offshore production is the Stabroek Block, operated by ExxonMobil with co-venturers Hess and CNOOC. The block remains Guyana’s only producing area and hosts multiple sanctioned developments that underpin national output growth.
Ratio Guyana Limited and Cataleya Energy Limited continue to hold interests in the Kaieteur Block, east of Stabroek. To the southeast lies the Canje Block, where TotalEnergies, JHI Associates, and Mid-Atlantic Oil & Gas join ExxonMobil. Several wells have been drilled in Canje, with operators continuing evaluation to determine future drilling plans.
The Roraima Block is held by Occidental. Nearby, the Orinduik Block is operated by Eco Atlantic Oil & Gas in partnership with Navitas Petroleum, with multiple discoveries already reported and appraisal work ongoing.
Beyond deepwater acreage, Guyana’s shallow-water and transitional zones are organized into the S-Series blocks, S1 through S11. While most remain unassigned or in early evaluation, the S4 Block is held by TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy, and Petronas. The S7 Block is operated by Cybele Energy Ltd, while the remaining S-Series blocks—S1, S2, S3, S5, S6, S8, S9, S10, and S11 – remain part of Guyana’s broader offshore portfolio.
