The 2025 Local Content Summit aims to equip local businesses with the tools, knowledge, and partnerships needed to thrive in the oil and gas sector. Hosted under the theme ‘Collaborate. Invest. Build. Shaping Guyana’s Future Together’, the event will move beyond general industry updates, providing actionable insights and practical strategies.
The event is being organised by MBW in collaboration with Prestige Management Consultants and the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Local Content Secretariat. MBW’s Chief Executive Officer, Abbigale Loncke Watson, told OilNOW that the Summit is designed to deliver tangible benefits to Guyanese businesses by providing them with the resources and connections necessary to succeed in the evolving market.
Unlike previous editions, this year’s Summit is designed with a sharper focus on outcomes. Attendees can expect deep-dive discussions with leading oil and gas companies on upcoming business opportunities. Panels will address the complexities of consortia and joint ventures, while success stories and advocacy challenges will be highlighted to offer real-world perspectives.
Key topics will include regulatory and compliance insights, with discussions on how policy changes and legislative requirements impact local businesses. The Local Content Secretariat will also provide updates on its ongoing efforts to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and expand opportunities within the sector’s wider value chain.
The event will emphasize three core areas:
- Capacity Building & Skills Development – Helping businesses acquire necessary certifications and expertise.
- Investment & Financing Opportunities – Connecting entrepreneurs with funding sources to scale their operations.
- Sustainable Growth & Local Partnerships – Strengthening collaborations between local businesses and global industry leaders.
Additionally, Watson said industry experts will outline strategies for corporate social responsibility (CSR), local content participation, and support for women-owned businesses. Special attention will be given to ensuring small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can compete in the evolving market.
“At its core, this Summit is about ensuring that Guyana’s private sector is not just a participant in the country’s oil and gas industry but a key driver in its growth and sustainability. We are excited to bring this platform to the business community once again and look forward to the meaningful discussions and partnerships that will emerge,” she added.
OilNOW is the official media partner for the Summit, being held on April 8 at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
