The Greater Guyana Initiative (GGI), a US$100 million investment by the Stabroek Block co-venturers, has opened applications for new project proposals, targeting organizations seeking funding for development-focused programs across Guyana.
The initiative is backed by ExxonMobil, Hess, and CNOOC. It spans ten years and supports programs in education and training, economic development, and community health.
GGI is inviting submissions through its current ‘Call for Proposals’, aimed at projects that align with national development priorities and deliver measurable benefits to targeted communities.
This cohort is focused on providing funding opportunities for smaller-scale projects. Thus, under this call, the initiative will make available up to US$100,000 per project.
Applicants must submit a complete project proposal structured across nine required sections. All sections must be filled before submission for consideration.
The first section outlines the organizational background. Applicants must provide the name of the organization, identify any NGO or partner entity, and state their objectives.
The project proposal summary, spanning two to five pages, must define the purpose of the project and the need it addresses. It must show how the proposal aligns with national and community priorities, identify the population to be served, and explain expected benefits. Applicants are also required to outline similar work completed within the last one to five years and highlight results achieved.
Capacity building is mandatory. Proposals must explain how the project will strengthen local skills and ensure lasting benefits for beneficiaries.
A detailed implementation and management plan is required. This includes staffing, key personnel, and supporting resumes. Applicants must list activities, provide a workplan with timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and outline strategies for execution. Risks must be identified along with mitigation measures.
Monitoring and evaluation must be clearly defined. Applicants are required to show how project impact will be measured over short, medium, and long-term periods. They must define success indicators and explain what baseline data will be collected before implementation.

A communications plan must outline how results will be shared with communities, stakeholders, and the media, including how the involvement of GGI’s co-venturers will be communicated.
A full budget must be submitted, covering staffing, equipment, training, travel, and other relevant costs. Additional categories can be included where necessary.
The final sections allow applicants to summarize key points and provide any supporting or supplementary information relevant to the proposal.
