Crude oil production offshore Guyana averaged about 918,000 barrels per day (b/d) in February, placing the country within reach of the one million b/d mark.
The output was recorded in the Stabroek Block, where ExxonMobil is operator, with co-venturers Hess and CNOOC. Government data shows total production for the month of February reached approximately 25.7 million barrels.
Production across the four active developments remained tightly clustered. Liza 1 delivered 129,000 b/d. Liza 2 produced 261,000 b/d. Payara added 264,000 b/d. Yellowtail matched that level at 264,000 b/d.
Guyana’s next production milestone: 1.1 million barrels with Uaru development | OilNOW
The February figure increased from 915,000 b/d in January and is the highest monthly average recorded so far. The gains reflect ongoing optimization work, including debottlenecking and reservoir management, allowing higher output without new infrastructure.
The ramp-up has been driven in part by Yellowtail. The project reached its initial 250,000 b/d target in late 2025 and has since moved above that level, producing around 263,000 b/d. Exxon has said this project may be able to safely produce up to 290,000 b/d and is expected to study the scope to engineer this increase.
The scale of growth is evident when compared to recent performance. Average production for 2025 stood at about 716,000 b/d, well below current levels.
Guyana’s Uaru and Whiptail projects on track for 2026 to 2027 start-up – Routledge | OilNOW
New developments are set to push output beyond the one million b/d threshold. The Uaru project, scheduled to start production in 2026, is designed to add 250,000 b/d and lift capacity to around 1.1 million b/d.
Further increases are expected from projects already in the pipeline. Whiptail is targeted for 2027 with a capacity of 250,000 b/d. Hammerhead, expected in 2029, is designed to produce 150,000 b/d of oil, in addition to gas.
