Hess Corporation reported that its net production from the Stabroek Block averaged 183,000 barrels of oil per day (b/d) in the first quarter of 2025. That’s down slightly from 190,000 b/d in the same period last year, due mainly to a decrease in tax barrels. Second-quarter output is forecasted at around 180,000 b/d.
The company said its Guyana oil production is expected to hold steady in the second quarter of 2025, as the country prepares to bring its largest offshore development online.

Hess said 14 cargoes of crude were sold from Guyana in the first quarter, with 15 planned for the second quarter.
The Yellowtail development, the fourth on the Stabroek Block, remains on schedule for startup in the third quarter. It will use the ONE GUYANA floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), which arrived offshore Guyana on April 15. Yellowtail will add gross production capacity of 250,000 b/d.
Two more sanctioned developments – Uaru and Whiptail – are expected to come online in 2026 and 2027, respectively, each with a similar capacity. A development plan for a seventh project, Hammerhead, was submitted to the Guyanese government in March. If approved, it is expected to produce 150,000 b/d starting in 2029.
