MODEC Guyana Inc. (MOG) has issued a request for interest (RFI) seeking a subcontractor to deliver comprehensive field maintenance and technical support services for Flash Gas Compressor units.

MODEC said the compressor units are for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel targeting oil production operations offshore Guyana.

The company said the selected subcontractor must ensure the highest standards of service quality, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. The work scope includes providing skilled manpower, tools, consumables, calibration, and logistics support for both planned and corrective maintenance activities.

According to MODEC, the services will encompass emergency call-outs, remote and in-field troubleshooting, and full compliance with manufacturer requirements and MOG procedures. All activities must align with regulatory requirements and the company’s Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) standards.

The Flash Gas Compressor system supports key FPSO topsides operations, including compression of produced gas for processing, dehydration, and injection systems.

MODEC emphasized that subcontractors must ensure personnel competency and technical execution suitable for offshore environments, while maintaining unit availability and integrity through certified workmanship and documented quality assurance.

The RFI covers two one-stage, dry-screw, motor-driven compressors — CBA-2110A and CBA-2110B — in a 2×100% configuration, one operating and one on standby. Each has a design capacity of 26 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), operating between 0.2 barg inlet and 6.1 barg outlet pressure at 38°C.

Maintenance requirements include planned servicing per original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards, corrective and emergency interventions, and major overhauls such as “rotor assembly, compressor installation and testing, mechanical seal and coupling inspections, and bearing and wear ring replacements”.

MODEC said the engagement will ensure continued reliability of its FPSO gas compression systems, a critical component in maintaining safe and efficient offshore production operations.

ExxonMobil hired MODEC to deliver the Errea Wittu FPSO for the Uaru project offshore Guyana through an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract in 2023. The company was also awarded a full EPCI contract this year to deliver a second FPSO for Exxon’s Hammerhead project.
