ExxonMobil Guyana is continuing development drilling at its Uaru project offshore Guyana, with the Noble Sam Croft drillship operating at the UA_3P03 drill center in the Stabroek Block.

A June 24 notice to mariners from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said drilling at the Uaru drill center began that day and is scheduled to continue until July 31. The work is being carried out within Guyana’s exclusive economic zone, about 100.46 nautical miles, or 186 kilometers, offshore.

ExxonMobil has used the Noble Sam Croft for both development and exploration drilling in the Stabroek Block. It has supported work at projects such as Yellowtail, Whiptail and Uaru, and has also drilled exploration wells, including Hatchetfish-1 and Goatfish-1.

Uaru is one of ExxonMobil’s next major offshore developments in Guyana. The project targets more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil and is expected to produce up to 250,000 barrels per day.

The US$12.7 billion development will include up to 10 drill centers and 44 wells. It will be supported by the Errea Wittu floating production, storage and offloading vessel, which is being built by Japan’s MODEC.

Once online this year, Uaru is expected to help push Guyana’s oil production beyond one million barrels per day, adding to output from ExxonMobil’s growing portfolio of developments in the Stabroek Block.

ExxonMobil operates the block with a 45% stake, alongside Hess with 30% and CNOOC with 25%.
